The setup guide

Everything You Need.
Nothing You Don't.

Running a trivia night used to mean hours of writing, formatting, and prep. With On-Tap Trivia it means plugging in a laptop and putting someone on the mic. Here is exactly how it works, start to finish.

From Sign-Up to Showtime in 5 Steps

01

Subscribe and choose your plan

It takes about two minutes. Pick the weekly subscription or a single pack and get instant access. No sales call, no onboarding fee, no waiting around for someone to set you up.

02

Receive your pack every Monday

A fresh, fully written trivia night lands in your inbox every Monday morning as a digital download. You have lots of time to read it over and prep, and a host who does that runs a tighter room on the night.

03

Print your answer booklets

We provide a ready-to-print answer booklet template. Print one seven-page booklet for each team before the quiz, and make sure you have plenty of pens available so everyone is ready to play from the moment the first question begins.

04

Set up your screen

Connect a laptop or tablet to a TV, projector, or monitor. A 40-inch screen is plenty for most rooms. Larger venues use a projector or multiple screens so every team has a good vantage point.

05

Run the night

Your quizmaster simply opens the presentation and follows the Host Q & A Sheet. Every answer, clue, announcement, and cue is clearly laid out, making it easy for an outgoing staff member, regular, or friend of the bar to deliver a polished, engaging quiz night, even if they have never hosted one before.

The one thing we can't send you

Your Host Makes the Night

The pack does the writing. A person still runs the room, and that person is what your regulars come back for.

Trivia is live entertainment. Someone reads the questions, keeps the energy high, settles the occasional debate over an answer, and keeps the room engaged from start to finish. Done well, it is the difference between a quiz and a night your regulars look forward to every week. A great quizmaster also builds relationships with the teams, learning their names, sharing a laugh, and creating the welcoming atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

It does not have to be a professional. A bartender, manager, owner, or outgoing staff member can make an excellent quizmaster, and many venues quickly find one person who becomes the face of their trivia night. We take care of the hard part. The Host Q & A Sheet includes every answer, the running order, music cues, and clear prompts for moving from one question to the next, so your host arrives prepared and can focus on entertaining the room while other staff help collect and mark answer booklets.

The Whole Equipment List

No special gear, no big investment. If your bar shows sports, you are basically ready already.

  • A TV or projector (a 40-inch TV works fine)
  • A laptop or tablet to run the slides
  • A printer for answer booklets
  • Someone from your team to host the night
  • A microphone
